I have this CD for a long period of time already. And it belongs to a certain category of things like an old book - after listening I put it on the best place of my shelf. From time to time I may just come and touch the cover even without listening, just to revise memorable moments of listening to it and emotions which it arouse. And the cover of this album promotes such associations - booklet in the form of a small cardboard book fluttered artificially by time. It includes photos of various plants names of which are the titles of tracks.
Systems Of Mercy is a very integral ambient story which can be listened without a pause. General sounding is united by smooth, airy good analogue sound stream, but each track has its own particular mood, its own element singling out one part of record from any other ones. For example in "Iris" we hear sad, uncertain bell strikes. In "Gossypium" female vocalism transformed by vocoder. Track "Rosa" is led by simple, calm drum loop played by a drum machine. "Calla" is a perfect ending of the album - prickly high-frequency pulsations on the background of synthesized backings and a chain of very perverted human voices.
Well, high time to stop talking and start listening...
