The first and the only at the moment musical release of the Italian art-community EVES - album Melodies Fork Now by the project Koolmorf Widesen (Leonardo Barbadoro). The musician already has a solo work in his discography, but unfortunately I hadn't got acquainted with it.
The thing, due to which I liked the album at once, is that from the very first minutes of sounding it suddenly sent my mind some years back, to the beginning of millennium when I got maximum pleasure from the British experimental electronics. In particular from the double CD Druqs of Aphex Twin and Squarepusher's album Go Plastic. Melodies Fork Now has something common with these works in those parts where vent is given to very quick, interrupted and ornate rhythm shooting down the listener like with a machine gun. In some places I even can't get rid of the feeling that I've heard it somewhere else. Damm, haven't I heard it?! In any case it's made well and catching – in "My Arms Bend Back" drums chopped by trance-gate as well as "7 Rockets", jungle trash in "K21"... The rhythms are sometimes mixed with quickly as well sequence of acid analogue sounds making together with drums the highly explosive chemical reaction.
High-speed and crazy part of the album interlaces with calm ambient themes, at the foreground are the instruments of a symphony orchestra. It's a powerful and deep component of the album, it refreshes its sounding. Perhaps without it the album could be considered rather mediocre. But the result is at the least very integral and interesting release.
