Justin Bennett is one of project BMB con members, he lives in Netherlands and at the same time he's engaged with his own audio-visual projects. Album Cityscape is the debut work of the sound artist, some kind of audio-collage. In European cities Justin recorded a great number of various technological and original noises of which he gathered his breathtaking piece of art.
Each of the 25 tracks making this album has its own title, the name of the city in which this record was made - Rotterdam, Den Haag, Praha, London, Amsterdam, Paris and so on. At some moment the sound artist understood that each city "sounds" in its own way, with its individual sound and sound architecture.
The result of this work is worth high praise – these experiments were really conducted not in vain. The listener gets to some really unknown and unpredicted for him "reality", in each city its own secrets can be found, these secrets make up the whole fascinating sound labyrinth. You can listen to it on your own, guess and imagine what is hidden behind these pictures. Total freedom for creative perception! And by the way, the thing that makes me glad most of all is that the releases made on Staalplaat contains not only the idea, content, but also original cover for their production. For example Cityscape is packed into a special packet with a huge map of a non-existent city-testing area, with special information and instruction for usage. Probably it's made for a listener-visionary not to get lost in this multilayer space. So if you never get to any of these European cities, using this sound and your imagination you will be able to move and have your own trip.
